KST – that means rocker comfort on piste and icy terrain. A technology quantum leap resembling that of the carving revolution. The Kessler Shape Technology, developed and patented by Hansjürg Kessler, enables us to combine the enjoyable effects of rocker-boards and -skis on the ski piste with the demands of safety, grip of edges and stability. The special clothoid board geometry allows applying an infinite number of radii on turns and permits variable turn radii with one and the same pair of skis: carving small and tight turns as well as long drawn-out turns at all speed levels. The pressure of the edges is effective where it is needed and at the same time reduced where it handicaps. There is no longer the danger to easily catch edges, and the strain reduction on the body is a huge gain of safety at all performance levels.
Kessler Shape Technology (KST) is the dynamic interaction between the baseline and sidecut. The 2005 patented technology uses all the advantages of the rocker line in combination with a sidecut based on a clothoid geometrical formula. It is the sophisticated interaction that is causing the brilliant revolution!
The KST Baseline shows reverse camber. However under pressure, the front and back contact points move towards the middle of the ski or board. The nose and tail rise slightly. The aggressive radii are being negated. This results in turns being easier to initiate, easy edge changing, and a safe, catch-free downhill run with increased stability.
However, it’s when the ski or board is edging that the interaction between the sidecut and the rocker line really comes into play. As the ski or board tilts, the contact surface area with the snow is increased, allowing the rider to consciously select the radius of choice. This is where the full force of the clothoid shape comes into effect, giving the rider totally controlled carving ability and a high level of grip, also on icy conditions or at high speed. World-class performance and easy handling.
An important component of the legendary KST is the sidecut which is based on a clothoid geometrical formula. This optimal geometry defines the radii on the board or ski with pin point accuracy. These can then be accessed by the rider by tilting the ski or board without force. The more the ski or board edges, the further the front contact point moves to the nose, and respectively, the back contact point to the tail. In this way, the rider can intentionally choose the radius that occurs at the point that is edging and actively determines the curve. The further forward the contact point lies, the tighter the turn possible. When carving, this provides riders with an essential advantage over traditional skis and snowboards where often the material defines the course. KST gives riders the freedom to determine their own carving course by applying more or less tilt.Vibrations are also drastically reduced thanks to the specially developed geometry. Overall, this leads to the ultimate smooth ride and relieves pressure on the joints.
